Why does the coolant temperature of my Hyundai Coupe drop to nothing when the air con is turned on?
When my Hyundai Coupe 2.0 SE (1998) is running at normal operating temperature, one of the two fans cuts in and out as normal. When the air conditioning is switched on straight away, both fans cut in and the engine coolant temp drops to nothing. This doesn't seem right and I can't ever remember this happening before now. The air conditioning works, fine by the way, and it's probably a bit too cold. Is this normal?

That's the engine over-cooling so the air conditioning doesn't have to work so hard.
