Which small car should I replace my Ford StreetKa with?

I currently own an 04-plate Ford StreetKa which I want to part exchange. I've been told by the garage I bought it from that its worth £4000 as a part exchange. I want a reliable, solid yet stylish small car which would suit me, being female and 30. I don't want to spend much more than £8000 in total (including the part-ex) on a used car. What should I go for?

Used, a Mazda 2 1.3TS2. Huge fun to drive and decently economical. New, a Hyundai i10 1.2 Comfort.
