EGR Valve cleaning

I have previously owned a 2004 BMW 530d which was very a reliable car. I had to remove EGR valve a couple of times and clean it with carburettor cleaner.
I now have a F31 335d, will I be able to clean its EGR valve in the same way post warranty when a EGR fault arises or does it have electronics making such a procedure impossible?

Probably not. Modern EGR coolers tens to be plastic and tend to fall apart at the second attempt to clean them. But if you stick to Shell V-Power Nitro Plus diesel (avoiding unsuitable cheap diesel) the problem should not arise.
