Why did my friend's Land Rover Discovery's doors lock when he had an accident in it?

A friend had an accident in his Land Rover Discovery. It overturned and he found himself locked in. I was told some time ago that, on impact, the locks on the doors would automatically un-lock. Is that no longer true?

I can't answer that. It might depend on whether he landed on the security lock and accidentally locked all the doors.
