Best automatic small car?

We need to upgrade our trusted Seat Arosa with a new 5 door automatic. This is a second car that will only complete 6000 miles per year, a combination of 80% local journeys and the occasional motorway journey. We would appreciate your advice on the best petrol engine and automatic gearbox combination. Our shortlist currently is Audi A1, Polo and Mazda 2. We would normally have included the Fiesta but have read reports that the automatic gearbox is not the best.

Mazda 2, by a long way. Excellent 6 speed auto: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mazda/mazda-2-2015.../ But pick a better colour than the one in our road test.
