Could a DPF problem be misdiagnosed as needing a new turbo

Following a dramatic loss of power on the motorway in July my Ford Dealer replaced the turbo in my 2008 Focus Td 109. Cost £900. This week the engine malfunction light appeared, & another, though less dramatic, reduction in power. The dealer now says I need a new DPF & sensor. Could the DPF/sensor have been the problem all along & I didn't need a new turbo or are they not related? Once this fault occurs is it likely to keep recurring? Mileage 100,000.

Standard set of problems with this engine at this age from around 80,000 miles. And if the turbo bearing oil feed pipe and oil return pipe were not also replaced then the new turbo will fail again too. Might be possible to clean the ash out of the DPF using the Ceramex process.
