Would you choose the pre-2007 diesel Nissan X-Trail over a Toyota RAV-4?

As a parent-to-be, I have found out that the boot of my BMW 320d Touring is not going to be big enough to accommodate anything other than a small pram. I'm therefore looking for something with more boot space, preferably a manual diesel, up to £10,000. I'm keen on both the Nissan X-Trail and Toyota RAV-4. Please could you let me know if the turbo and timing chain tensioner problems on the diesel X-Trail affect all cars produced between 2001-2007? Would I be mad to consider a pre-2007 diesel X-Trail over a RAV-4?

X-Trails did have a lot of problems, but the flack now seems to have died down. Old shape RAV-4s had dual mass flywheel problems and were belt cam. The current shape 2.2 diesel are chain cam. Better to buy one with a spare wheel on the back door.
