Which car for my son combines low insurance with street cred?

Can you recommend a first car for my son please? We have a budget of up to £2000, but are trying to match low insurance with street cred.

They don't match. You won't get a decent Citroen C1 for £2000 and you'll even be pushed to get a good Panda for £2000, so you might as well go for a Fiesta 1.25 16v (not a 1.3 8v). Fiestas came out well in the latest Warranty Direct stats. Corsas seem to have more misplaced 'cred' but are less reliable.
