Why does my Volkswagen Polo's ABS light come on when I carry passengers in the back seats?

Can anyone throw any light on an annoying problem I'm having with my '51 Polo Match. It's a 3-door and it's usually just myself in the car, but I've noticed that whenever I fold the seat forward and have passengers sitting in the back of car my ABS light comes on. When the passengers get out and I turn ignition back on the lights goes off. Should I just ban passengers?

It may be a trapped cable, or it may be interference with the rear reluctor ring sensors due to the weight in the back of the car.
