Citroen Synergie fuel pump

Does a 1996 Citroen Synergie 1.9td have an in tank pump. Car starts but stalls but can then run fine. I have changed filter. Have found once pumped hand primer it seems better.

Yes. Everything has a low pressure fuel tank 'lifter' pump to send fuel to the high pressure injection pump. The fault may be the pump, the pump's earth, or the pump's relay, or the earth to the pump's relay.
