Replacement car for Micra - suggestions?

My 65 year old wife drives 10k miles a year and needs a reliable automatic small car, not French, Italian to replace her Micra CVT, which despite full Nissan service history requires a new CVT gearbox after 43,000 miles.

Could you please suggest a small, automatic, 5 door which is reliable, good mpg,low emissions and low insurance group. We have a budget of about £8,500. Warranty period and maximum mileage is important.

£8,500 might get you a February 2010 or later Honda Jazz 1.4 i-VTEC CVT-7, which is the most practical, versatile, fuel-efficient and reliable car in the class, but no ball of fire to drive. (Still a lot better to drive than the Micra CVT.) Avoid the earlier Jazz 1.4 i-VTEC i-shift.

Neatly styled. Increased room and better performance than original Jazz. better to drive. Very versatile. CVT-7 returned in February 2011 replacing i-SHIFT. More reliable than first generation Jazz.
