Which tyres are the best value for my Toyota Avensis?

My car is an Toyota Avensis driven moderately, an occasional longer trip to France in the winter for skiing - no more than 10,000 miles a year. I need new tyres, and value for money consistent with safety is my foremost priority. Any tips? I know you are keen on runflats but they seem expensive.

Generally I recommend Michelin Energy Saver or lower profile Michelin Pilot Primacy HP. They last 20 per cent - 60 per cent longer and are generally more expensive, though someone, somewhere, always has an offer on to bring their prices back into line.
