down sizing car

I currently have a skoda superb diesel,Iam looking to down size as my wife finds it too big to drive. Can you recommend a car that will give a good size boot and good leg room.Whilst being overall considerably smaller. Not anything from the Skoda or VW range .Although I like diesel I only do about 5/6000 miles a year, and wonder would petrol be better.I would want to spend up to£15000.

A Skoda Rapid Spaceback does the job of offering plenty of rear legroom inside a compact car. But it's a Skoda. A Honda HRV has good rear legroom and offers excellent load carrying potential, but they start at £17k and the petrol engine isn't really man enough. Probably better to settle for a Honda Jazz or a Nissan Note. The Note isn't as good as the Jazz but does have sliding rear seats. Slightly bigger, a Nissan Pulsar.
