Which Honda SUV is best for towing?

I currently run a 2013 Honda CR-V 2.0 petrol manual. I opted for this as my daily commute is only seven miles each way. I cover 10,000 miles a year and tow a caravan for holidays. I find my CR-V struggles with the holiday work.

With the 1.6 diesel being so clean burning, and the DPF being at the engine end, do you think I would be safer with the diesel or do you think it would be too risky with my commute? I'd probably keep the car for five years.

I'm currently running an HR-V - www.honestjohn.co.uk/our-cars/honda-hr-v/ - with the lower powered version of this engine and not encountering any problems, but most of my driving is distance. If considering a CRV I'd also check out an HRV because as well as a big load area it also has the versatile Jazz/Civic 'Magic' seats and the CR-V doesn't.
