is this common for Citroen C4 1.6 HDI EGS to get a Slipping Clutch at sub 40k miles
We have been told by the Citroen Servicing Agent that the Clutch Slipping on a Citroen C4 2013 EGS Gearbox at under 40k miles is not uncommon and that this would be considered a wear and tear item. Is this correct? They are asking for our authority to remove the gearbox to review whether it is a clutch issue or a gearbox issue, they have said Citroen would not honour warranty if it is a worn clutch. The replacement cost will be £1459.00 I cannot believe a car under three years old, under 40k miles would suffer this and that Citroen would not honour the warranty? The car has been driven what would consider normal, bearing in mind I have covered more than a 1.1 m miles in 30 years of driving and have never had a replacement clutch on any manual car in that time. My Wife who drives this car as the main vehicle who also has been driving for a similar time has never had a replacement clutch. Cars are normally kept for 100-120k mile. Please can you give some advise as to how to proceed.

Yes and no. If the Citroen dealer is any good, then the clutch take-up can be adjusted electronically within the actuator software. If the Citroen dealer isn't any good and doesn't have the knowledge, or if he wants to take £1,459 off you, he will simply tell you the clutch is slipping. Go elsewhere.
