Re-importing a 4x4
I bought a UK registered ex-MOT Full Tilt 1993 Land Rover Defender 110 and exported it to France in 2004. I still have all the UK registration papers and DVLA letters acknowledging my export.
It has been registered in France with its Carte Gris and is up to date with the Controle Tecnique and Pollution tests. I am looking at bringing it back permanently to the UK this year.
My questions are
1. Can I drive back and then re-register with the original plates etc?
2. What road tax would I have to pay?
3. If I use the vehicle only some months of the year in the UK how easy and convenient is it to use a SORN?

Should be no problem bringing it back and re-registering, though the original plates may have been re-allocated. VED for pre-EU4 LCVs is currently £225pa. Inconvenient to SORN spasmodically and if a vehicle is not SORNd it has to be continuously insured, taxed and MoTd.
