Fused link on battery cable

I am trying to find out the rating of the fused link on the cable to the battery terminal. The fuse on my Citroen Xsara Picasso has blown due to a poorly fitted tow bar.

The AA came out and found the fault and pit in a fuse to get it going. I'm trying. to find the correct value of the fuse, as a new cable is £160 and fuse is a lot cheaper!

Your problem is that a fuse is there to protect the wiring of the car from fire if there is a fault, as the existing fuse successfully did. So you should replace it with exactly the same aperage of fuse that blew.
