Has my local Vauxhall dealer damaged my Zafira?

My 2005 Vauxhall Zafira 2.2 diesel has developed a slight loss in power in low rpm after it failed to start one morning. Diagnostic checks showed nothing , no engine lights or funny sounds when driving.

My local dealer has taken a look at it and say the chain tensioner has broken. They say I need a new engine, which will cost £6000. Dose this sound right to you?

The car is worse now after they have been working on it for those first three days. We have complained and are waiting to hear back Vauxhall regarding this situation, the car has done 76k.

Yes, common problem with this engine because, unless the oil is changed often the oilway to the tensioner clogs up. It wasn't their fault. it was happening anyway. If valves have not hit pistons, it may be possible that a member of www.fer.co.uk can rescue the engine, otherwise needs a used replacement engine best bought via fer.co.uk
