Are DPFs linked to EGR failures?

Do you think there are links between the expensive failures of the DPF filter systems fitted to VAG group vehicles that do not routinely cover high mileages to the recent diesel gate emissions scandal and/or to the common EGR valve failures?

If there were frequent failures of DPFs on VAG group cars that were not replaced under warranty then I would have heard about it and there have not been. EGR failure on EA189 1.6TDIs is, however, very common and replacements have been charged for at up to £650.
