BMW X5 autto suffering from gear slippage
A year ago I purchased an approved 2012 BMW X5 (E70) from an approved dealer. The car was sold with a two year warranty. Last week, when accelerating, the automatic gearbox felt like the gearbox was slipping.
The dealer diagnosed it as gearbox slam and did a software update saying that the car will adapt to my driving style; however, this has not fixed the problem. Have you heard of this type of issue and what might be the fix?

No, but at four years old it could probably do with replacement of the Automatic Transmission Fluid. I'd take the problem to a member of www.fedauto.co.uk who will have a non-corporate answer. Torque converter autos with more than 6 speeds require more frequent ATF changes because they chop up the fluid more rapidly.
