Why does my Ford Mondeo have such poor acceleration?
I have recently purchased a 2003 Ford Mondeo Ghia 2.5 V6 auto from a local Ford main dealer. Overall I am happy with the vehicle, apart from the fact that the acceleration seems very sluggish on uphill stretches of road. On long climbs in particular, it feels as if the car is being held back for some reason. Given the power available, this is very disappointing. My wife's Volkswagen Lupo 1.0 pulls better under the same conditions. The dealer says that everything is OK but I can't help feeling that there is a problem somewhere. Any thoughts?

Could be a number of reasons. Firstly are you sure that you do not have any clutch slip? This will (even if at an early stage) show up when going uphill, and although the engine will rev very well, you will not get actual acceleration of the vehicle. If it's not that it may be that your HT lead is breaking down (from coil to distributor). This again will cause a loss of power. Renew the HT leads if this is the case.
