Volkswagen emissions fix has affected my car

I had the 'fix' last month but since then there's a horrible rattle in engine when it's changing up between 2 and 4. Volkswagen say I need to pay for a diagnostic test and if it shows that it is due to the fix then they will refund. I had the fix done by a mobile unit from Volkswagen direct. I asked at the nearest dealership how much this diagnostic test would cost and they quoted me £100 but also said they had had several Tiguan's with this problem following the fix and that there was updated software which could be applied and if I'd had the first fix with them they would suggest doing this first before a diagnostic test. Having behaved so dishonestly I feel Volkswagen should at the very least agree to pay for any investigation of problems encountered following the fix, what do you think?

I think you're right and I think you can tell the dealer who supplied your car that if he does not fix it FoC you will take legal action against him. You don't have any such rights against any other Volkswagen dealer, only the dealer who supplied the car. They are independent businesses, not Volkswagen. But once you get onto your original supplier he will sort it out. Neither he nor Volkswagen can afford any messing about over this.
