Adding manual transmission to licence for automatics only?

My son took his driving test in an automatic, so has a licence for automatics only. If he wants to drive a manual transmission vehicle, does he have to take the practical AND theory tests again, or just the practical?

Just the practical: www.gov.uk/automatic-driving-licence-to-manual/ All very fair and sensible.
