Does the Kia Sportage use Volkswagen's DSG gearbox?
I am looking to buy a new Kia Sportage petrol with the seven-speed DSG gearbox. However, a friend of mine has told me to avoid this car because it uses Volkswagen's DSG gearbox.
The Kia salesman states that they do not buy in parts, but this does not really mean they are not the same as they could manufacture them under licence. Do you know if the Kia autobox is the same as the Volkswagen version, and is it likely to suffer the same problems?

No, they are not the same. Hyundai/KIA's six-speed and seven-speed dual clutch transmissions were developed wholly in house at Namyang in Korea. So far they have not been troublesome.
