Ex-girlfriend won't return my car - what should I do?

I bought a car two months ago. I am the registered keeper and have insured and taxed it. I paid in cash and my ex-girlfriend is an added driver on the insurance. However, recently, she has left with the car and will not contact me. I don't know where she's living.

I'm not concerned about having the car back, which only cost £400, but I want to cancel the insurance and get the tax back. Citizens Advice and DVLA have both said I can fill out the VC5 form and say I've sold it to her. But I'm wondering if she doesn't sign anything have I LEGALLY transferred it to her. Or could I face problems later on if she plays dumb and said she was unaware she was the registered keeper and still thought it was taxed and insured?

Report the car to the police and to your insurer as stolen.
