Buying a Porsche Macan - petrol or diesel?

I've order a Porsche Macan and need to spec it soon. All reviews seem to go with the diesel version. However, I will only cover about 8000 miles a year and am drawn to the 2.0 petrol version which costs about £2000 less. I plan to keep it for a couple of years and residuals for current two-year old cars suggest a £2000 difference in petrol/diesel values. There's nothing to choose between the performance figures but of course the diesel is more economical to run. What do you think?

Not sure that a 3.0 V6 diesel will be cheaper to run than a 2.0 4-cylinder TSI. Just, for me, a Macan needs to be a V6 petrol, not an Audi Q5 2.0TSI pretending to be a Porsche: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/porsche/porsche-ma.../
