Need a cheap and economical petrol car for long commute

I will shortly be embarking on a 170 mile twice weekly A-road commute. I will also be doing lots of motorway driving the rest of the time, so will probably do 450 miles per week all in. Can you recommend a reliable petrol car for this work for under £3000? It must be comfortable, automatic and cheap to run.

If you can find a 2003-2005 Toyota Yaris 1.3 4-speed auto, grab it like a shot.
