Is a Mazda RX-8 expensive to run?

My son needs a car and is looking at a Mazda RX-8. He drives for fun rather than efficiency. Would this car be expensive to run?

Yes. Delicate engine. He needs to find an RX-8 specialist close by in order to be able to expect to run one of these. Also it needs to be the 230 6-speed, not the rather pointless 190 5-speed.
