Is it a bad idea to buy a diesel SUV with all the current diesel car issues?

I'm about to change my Nissan Qashqai Acenta diesel for something similar, but I'm concerned about getting another diesel with all the current issues surrounding diesel cars. Am I worrying unnecessarily? All the small SUVs and crossovers I like seem to be diesel.

Unless you will be doing 20,000 miles a year plus, get petrol. Lots of petrol SUVs now. Qashqai 1.2 DIG-T and 1.6 DIG-T, X-Trail 1.6 DIG-T, Dacia Duster 1.2 TCe 125, Suzuki Vitara S 1.4T, Peugeot 2008 1.2 PureTech 110 and 130.
