Can you recommend a small, comfortable hatchback to replace my wife's Suzuki Swift?

My wife has been driving a Suzuki Swift 1.5 for four years and is now looking to update. She ideally would like a five-door hatchback that has less road noise and is a little softer on her bones. She drives mostly short trips, but with a fortnightly trip around the M25. Any suggestions?

A Swift is a fine handling proper sports hatch. Just about everything else in the class is softer. Maybe a Kia Venga would suit.
