My insurer won't continue to insure my left hand drive car - what do I do now?

I have a Renault Clio, five door, LHD, diesel and the insurance is coming up for renewal. I phoned the insurance company to change some details and mentioned that on the insurance documents they have the model as an Expression, when, in fact, it's an Extreme. I was told that they don't have a five door Extreme on their computer and they cannot insure the car, even though they've taken the past two year's premium. The car was re-registered with the DVLA and the V5 does not mention the model type. Who do I go to for insurance?

With the vehicle being a left hand drive import, the difference in the specification would make little difference. Re-contact your insurer and advise them to re-insure it to the nearest comparable vehicle. This is what they have done in the past and what I as an engineer would do should it ever be total loss in the future. The truth is any insurer can insure the car, it is just that their systems say the cannot because of the model.
