Is my Ford Focus breaking down because of a coil pack fault?

I was driving along in the rain today when my Ford Focus decided not to work. I had my foot on the throttle and I was getting no response. I then stopped, put my foot on the clutch and revved the hell out of it and it was fine, until a few yards down the road when it did exactly the same. I have been driving the car around when it was dry and it was perfectly fine until today when it was raining. My husband thinks it is something to do with the coil pack. It has had a diagnostic machine on it and everything was fine. can you help me please?

Assuming it had a petrol engine, yes, the problem could be the insulation on one or more of the four coil packs.
