Why is our 2007 Nissan X-Trail rattling on start-up?
We bought a Nissan X-Trail Columbia on a 2007 plate last year and we have found that on start-up the engine sounds like a bag of spanners. This lasted for at least four or five miles but now seems to last longer, even when the engine is warm. We have had it back three times to our local dealers and they say there is nothing wrong with it. Could you please advise?

It might be a slightly stretched timing chain or sticking tensioner. But expensive to replace. Treat it to an oil and filter change and if it's the tensioner, that might be enough to cure it.
