We want to sell two cars - is part exchanging both a good idea?
My sister in law recently lost her husband and now possess two cars. Her own is a 2009 Ford Fiesta Style petrol with 38,000 miles. Her late husband had a 2012 Focus Zetec with 30,000 miles. Both garaged and well maintained. She is considering part exchanging both cars for a newer car. She could add a small amount to the part ex values of both cars. Any suggestions for a hatchback Focus sized car that will give her reliability? What value can she expect in part exchange?

It rarely works financially to p/x two for one. Better to p/x one and sell the other to wewantanycar.com or webuyanycar.com. I don't think either qualify for a scrappage discount that would be more than its normal p/x value. The Kia Cee'd and Hyundai i30 are proving to be very reliable, but have to be hatchbacks because the station wagons are only available as diesels. What's very nice is a Peugeot 2008 1.2 Puretech 130 or, if she wants an automatic, a Peugeot 2008 1.2 Puretech 110 EAT6, which is a proper torque converter auto.
