Why is my second year car tax more than I expected?
My Kia Sportage has CO2 of 175g/km and I understood that my second year tax rate was £140 but I have just received my reminder and it states £220 for the next year. Have I misread the tax band details?

It depends when it was first registered. On or after April 2017 the second year tax will be £140. Before April 2017 the rate is £220. If the car was registered in March 2017 it escaped the higher first year showroom tax from April, but the penalty is higher taxes subsequently.
