Honest John Awards 2018: Estate car category
The popularity of crossovers means that estate car is waning, but if you need easy access and lots of space they are still the best choice. Low load decks and big, wide boot floors are the order of the day here.
As always, the shortlist is based on user visits to pages on HonestJohn.co.uk - so they're chosen not by us, but based on how popular they are with you.
If you need your big, practical car to be plush, comfortable and really good to drive, the 3 Series is about the best choice you can make. Strong engines, keen handling and excellent build quality make it understandably popular.
Despite the estate car styling, the Clubman is actually around the same size as an Audi A3 Sportback. While it isn't the biggest estate, it offers generous amounts of standard equipment and a luxurious cabin.
The C-Class estate is a beautiful blend of traditional indulgence, tech heavy features and space. Defined by its refinement and quality, it’s essentially a John Lewis living room display on wheels.
The Octavia is a pragmatic, sensible car with a really useful load area, solid build quality and good equipment levels, making it an excellent value buy.
While Volvo estates used to be designed to carry fridges, the V60 was developed with the driver in mind - and boy does it show. The cabin is gorgeous, performance is strong and the load area is, low, wide and capacious.
