The new BMW M3 Touring is only available in Competition flavour in the UK, powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six petrol engine paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive as standard.
With 510PS and 650Nm of torque, the M3 Touring can accelerate to 62mph in just 3.6 seconds – making it one of the fastest estate cars on sale today. Top speed is limited to 174mph.
In terms of dimensions, it's actually slightly bigger than the regular 3 Series Touring, measuring 4794mm in length, 1903mm in width and 1436mm in height. There's a 500-litre boot, which increases to 1510 litres when you drop the rear seats flat (they split 40:20:40, which is handy).
It's very definitely an M car inside, with plenty of carbon detailing and figure-hugging M carbon seats.
On the outside, the BMW M3 Touring comes with black detailing, sizeable intakes, a lip spoiler and quad tailpipes. It comes as standard with 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 20-inch at the back. Track tyres are available as an optional extra.

The BMW M3 model family is welcoming a Touring addition to the ranks for the first time. Offered exclusively in Competition guise with the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the brand says the BMW M3 Touring combines that race-car feeling with a distinctive character and immense versatility.
Power generated by the 510PS six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology is channelled via the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and split between the four wheels as required. As a result, the BMW M3 Touring delivers blistering performance at all times both on the road and on the track. Agility and precision in the familiar BMW M tradition combine with unrestricted everyday practicality to give the BMW M3 Touring a distinctive identity showcased by its exterior design.
