Pininfarina styled front engined Ferrari 2+2 replaced 456 in mid 2004.
Weight distribution improved by moving the engine back, behind the front axle line and by mounting the gearbox and differential in unit with the rear axle. This also leaves substantial space available for the 2+2 cabin, which will comfortably accommodate four occupants.
What to watch out for
Owner reported he bought 2004 612 FIA from a specialist 10 weeks previously. Due to bad weather he had not driven it much. In the 3 times he ran the car for over an hour, the f1 automatic gearbox could go straight into neutral, usually during town driving when he had pulled away from lights etc between 20 and 30mph. If he flicked a paddle it would find a gear usually and resolve things.We thought it probably needs a change of transmission fluid and filters.
