Makes a change from motorists crashing into each other I suppose!

Glad nobody was seriously hurt.

Must be a quiet news day! I'd guess these sort of things happen most weekends.

Riding in a group requires a skill and a high degree of attention. Touch wheels and two of you are violently off. Ditto if you brake too hard or brake on a loose surface.

It others are not on the qv they pile in too.

I know what you mean, I've got a nice collection of scars from enthusiastic mountain biking a few years ago. I was lucky in one respect, I never had a pile up like that!!

You're right about the news too, the Courier recently went from a 6 days a week paper to a once a week edition, due insufficient news!

Unusually, had a French suicyclist in front of us descending the Col de Vence on Saturday. Every bend, he took the whole road, making himself impossible to overtake despite the good sight lines. But we had him in the end.

Cyclist descending a coll?

Surprised you could keep up in a car.

Seriously, how much were you really delayed?

A fast bike descent off a Col is not the place to get involved with gravel on the shoulders of a road.

Ive driven the Col de Ventoux twice. Both times the cyclists were overtaking me on the way down.

>>But we had him in the end.

Which end did you have?

My first day out with a Lincolnshire cycling club, in my teens, was in winter. I hit a patch of black ice after dark, came off and brought down just about everyone behind me. It was my turn at the front in a headwind and they were all riding very close for shelter. I felt really bad about it, but no one was hurt and, to my amazement, no one complained.

And one which reinforces my view that the 'cyclists contribute nowt' post I highligted a few weeks ago was genuine and not a hack.

"But we had him in the end."

I think it was just a tongue-in-cheek comment meaning that he eventually managed to overtake the cyclist, who by the sound of it could have pulled over to the side of the road sooner.

...." somebody who should no better"

What does that mean?

The cyclist is going down a mountain pass at 30 to 50 mph. The edges of the carrigaeway are hazardous in the extreme. Why on earth should he pull over to alow a car doing much the same speed to go in front for a gain of only a minute or two to the foot of the col?
