I declared a SORN for my motorcycle as the insurance was due to expire but now wish to get it back on the road. I read on http://www.findlaw.co.uk/law/motoring/vehicle_tax/9932.html that you could go to and from a pre-approved MOT without tax, however I'm not sure when this was written an on the DVLA website https://www.gov.uk/register-sorn-statutory-off-road-notification it seems to imply that only applies if you are a 'motor trader'.
Does anyone have a definitive answer to this (preferably with an official source or citation)?
You are allowed to go for an MOT (as long as it's pre-booked), return from an MOT, go to a garage for repairs or to get it scrapped.
It MUST be insured.
So the DVLA website is actually incorrect! I did a bit more digging and found http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1994/22/schedule/2 - search for 'testing', I will get the insurance sorted and should be good. Thanks for the advice
