These types of cars are not purpose designed SUV's, they are the maker's standard cars made to look more substantial, and sometimes with a part time driven rear axle chucked on to aid on-road slippery weather progress, they are not built to take the punishment a purpose designed 4x4 will.
There's nothing wrong with that as such, because purpose designed 4x4's tend to be more agricultural, which not everyone wants.
The only car i've ever had an engine mounting break was on a Land Crab, itself some 10 years old at the time.
