Peugeot 5008 - Car starting problems - electrical fault - Sue Wallis

Hi

I have a 2012 Peugeot 5008 that has an intermittent electirical fault and wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Every so often, with no rhyme or reason, I get a warning light when I go to start the car that says 'Braking System faulty' and then lots of electirical warning lights come on.

Absolutely nothing happens with the engine when I try to start the car.

But, if I leave it for a few hours, it then starts ok although the battery light stays on and then it goes off after a while.

It then runs perfectly until the next time it happens.

I have taken it to the Peugeot dealer and they have run the diagnostics but couldn't find anything wrong - they say they need to replicate the fault to find out the problem but as it is intermittent this is almost impossible.

I had a new battery fitted when it first happened about a year ago and then it's not happend for another year until recently when it's been happening relatiely frequently.

I wondered if anyone has any similar experience?

Thanks

Sue

Modern cars with complex electronics can be very difficult to fault find with intermittent problems. I would start by checking the battery, even though it’s fairly new,and all the local wiring attached to it,including the chassis and especially engine earth points. Recently looked at a C4 Picasso with similar issues,I grabbed hold of the engine earth lead and it broke away from the engine mount point.
