Blimey - this is going to be an eye opener

They're worse than last years lot. Write offs aplenty.

Quentin has very cleverly worked out what's best for him. He really shines in this show, because it gives him the money to give it some time.

I'm a big fan of the Count but I wish he was doing something better than celebrating stupidity and incompetence with these attention seeking morons.

There has to be a huge element of "playing up" as there always is with these nitwit neo-reality shows.

Being a dullard isn't anything to be proud of surely, but somehow it passes for entertainment? Not for me anyway.

From what I saw on the programme they should all have their licences pulled - permanently.

And the driving instructor who passed them should be sacked.

Worst Driver - practical joke, surely? - cockle {P} Wed 10 Sep 03 17:58

Caught the last 15 minutes or so of Quentin Wilson\'s latest vehicle last night, Worst Drivers 2003. I must admit that I really thought it was a spoof until my son confirmed that it was actually real. I mean, there really can\'t be drivers out there who haven\'t reversed into a parking space in 20 odd years, can there? Where the hell does she park? Presumably she keeps her car somewhere!

Once I was convinced that they were serious, it took my son a good five minutes to convince me, I just sat there totally bemused, if that is the standard of some of the drivers sharing our highways I think it\'s a minor miracle that the injury figures aren\'t 10 times the level they are.

What should be done to get these people off the roads?

My first reaction was for compulsory retests for everyone after five years and stiffer initial tests, but presumably these drivers had been passed by an examiner at some point, so what is the answer?

You're probably expecting something like this from me but...

I never reverse park. I'm quite happy reversing out of spaces but into them is a big no-no! I've only parallell parked about 5 times in the 5 years since I passed my test and at that time the reverse park wasn't in the test.

Hmm... I'm not doing my reputation any good with all these confessions!

I was taught to ALWAYS reverse park into driveways etc., including my own, on the basis that you can get out faster if you need to.
Britains Worst Driver - Season 2 - THe Growler
It's OK HJ, you are not alone. I would rather drive around several blocks and walk a mile back than (try to) reverse park between 2 cars. I look at this way: being a genius in so many ways causes nature to compensate by leaving some of us less good at what others regard as mundane tasks.

Why on earth would they play as they only get to go on TV and win a brand new car. On second thoughts, maybe they are actors, or more likely purposefully exaggerating. Does anyone seriously believe they were not deluged with blatant fakers and the task was to filter out the convincing ones?
Britains Worst Driver - Season 2 - AndySJ
Based on the first series I would guess that they're not actors, there are really people with that little control/sense driving on the roads.

One of the first lot works at the hairdresser my wife goes to, she maintains that she is a good driver really. She is unhappy to talk about the sho though or why she went on it (she didn't win a car).

What can I say? Some people will do anything to get on TV.

(Off topic, but didn't C4's The Word have a slot with that title about six or seven years ago?)
