Just had an e.mail from 'drivethedeal' informing me of price cuts on this car. Surprised by this I checked the website and obtained new quotes for both models, neither of which showed a discount over MRP. I suppose this could be a mistake but, if not, why are prices on this car aleady being reduced? I was under the impression that there was a waiting list for the RX8.

That\'s interesting because when www.drivethedeal.com sent me its list of discounted \'What Car?\' award winning prices, the RX8 and 350Z were the only cars not discounted. So I went to the site, did a search and got a price for the 231PS of £22,100 (no discount at all). I do know RX8s are not necessarily as hard to get as everyone thought they would be, possibly because of cancelled orders. A surgeon friend of mine got delivery in the colour of his choice in 2 weeks.

I don't think we Brits are brave enough to buy it in big numbers,i think the Nissan will sell many more in the UK.
The 2 big markets for the RX8 will be Japan and USA,as usual.

Didn't Mazda let you pre-order, with a minimum deposit, letting you have it back less £200 admin fee, or similar, should you not follow the purchase through?
guess there may well be some available, without too much of a delay.
Also WhatCar? were predicting low 3yr old residuals,if buyers have been reading the write ups, they may have been put off.
So maybee T Lucas is correct, about the Nissan being the UK favourite.It aint gonna be the Crossfire, thats for sure!!
I'd have the Rx8, still.

What sort of price cuts £100, £1000??
I saw one the other day and although they look nice, they don't look like over £20,000 worth of niceness :-)

That's the point MW - I couldn't find out what the price cuts were. As for the £20k price and given the spec plus the genuine 4 seater layout I'd say they were pretty good value as well as looking great. Unlike the Celica, for anyone with a couple of kids the RX8 gives you the chance to drive a sports car and take the family although I'll grant you that might not be everyone's cup of tea :-)

There are a few Jap Imports coming in now.
Southampton docks have a few 350Z's on 02 plates with Auto gearboxs.All are fully specced up. I've seen 2 RX8's.
I would personally go for the 350Z (especially in Black). You cant beat a V6 engine....
