Extremist pedestrians - that scratch on your car - that's them.
|
Anti-car loonies who all live in Notting Hill and believe that just because they can easily live without a car a farm labourer in Lincolnshire shouldn't be allowed to have one either.
In response the Governemnet sit smugly on the side lines and tax us to death whilst claiming its good for us.
Not thatI'm bitter...

It's worth familiarisig yourselves with who finances these anti car organisations and the salaries and pensions their directors make. The money doesn't just come from misguided pensioners. The RAC Foundation came ups with some facts and figures a few years ago.

Transport 2000 is largely funded by the rail industry I believe. To be fair to them, I think they would be horrified to be lumped in with re-claim the streets - totally different approach and aims.
|
The rail industry: only one where if government subsidies were withdrawn would charge £500 from London to Birmingham.
(I kid you not)

So how did the 4 separate rail companies that existed before nationalisation manage to make a profit? They didn't charge £500 (or its inflation-adjusted equivalent).
Do we need to bring back steam or something?

None of them made a profit. I believe the LNER didn't pay a dividend for years.
