With Renault now selling the Megane estate (sport tourer) in the UK, unlike the previous model, what are the pros and cons of buying one over the Scenic?

Test of Sport Tourer has just gone up on this site. Test of Scenic next week. First impressions of the Scenic are it's much nicer to drive. But it theoretically commands a huge £1,500 premium over the Sport Tourer. I say "theoretically" because Scenics included in Week's Best Deals coma at discounts approaching £4,000.

Can you quantify "nicer to drive"? As the owner of a first-generation Scenic, what does the second-generation one have over the Sport Tourer to justify the price difference?
Anyone driven the first and second generation Scenics who can give objective report of the differences, and which is better?

See the road test of the Scenic II. It goes, grips, rides and handles far better than a Scenic I, and the dCi 120 I had went and handled better than the 2.0 petrol 136bhp Sport Tourer which had a fairly wayward front end in comparison. There was nothing on the spec sheet to say that the Scenic had the handling pack and from experience of finding its limit I don't think it did. But, on list price at least, the Scenic is £1,500 dearer than the Sport Tourer.
