Question for HJ.... - Phoenicks
HJ, some great bits from you in UCB and Telegraph, but most are very specific so i have a wider question (or 2..).

Quite simply, which is the best used car, in your impression, and which is the worst?

This is based on reliability, value, driving, ability to resell etc.

just interested to hear the industry/trades POV!

surely that depends on what you want the car for?

It seems to me that somone who wants an everyday runabout on the cheap and is skilled with a spanner is going to have very different sort of best buy to someone who wants a hassle-free sports car for summer weekends ... and there's be a completely difft answer again for someone who wanted an economical way of driving high mileages.
Question for HJ.... - patently
And if there was one single answer then it would make 95% of the sales and the other 5% would go to muppets who didn't read up or ask around before buying.

Thus, it would be a bit obvious just by looking at a nearby stretch of road!

Thanks, No Wheels and Patently. That's the sort of question I sometimes get on a radio show. Easy to ask. Impossible to answer.

Ref. UCB.....Why was the blue TR7 so bad ?
Terrible TR7 - Honestjohn
It had overheated at some time and consequently would not cruise at more than 80 without overheating again. The aerodynamics stopped air flowing through the radiator until they put a sort of scoop thing underneath. It caught fire. The throttle would stick regularly. It started rusting badly (at 2 years old). It was a heap of junk. And because Triumph was in its second factory move when I had it, spare parts availability was zilch. But you\'re right, that does answer half of Phoenick\'s question. It was the worst car I can remember, and I guess the reason why I did not mention it is I prefer to forget it.

Hmmm we had a TR6 in the family in the mid 70s...it was a pile of pooh as well but at least had charisma...
