Honest John's hat - Sprice
Does Honest John really wear the hat he has on in the picture? I also seen an article by him in a magazine, but can't remember which magazine it was, can anybody help?

I have seen him at the auctions wearing it.

Dalglish, I remember browsing through a magazine in WH Smiths, and there was an article by HJ, it mentioned how he's been involved with cars since the age of 7, and he was giving advice on something to do with motoring, it was probably a car magazine, but it definately wasn't the Telegraph!

I bought it. Called something like "Used car buyer". Good mag, and of course HJ was the best bit.

If you watch the piccy at the top opf this page carefully for long enough, you'll see HJ's hat rotate.

Only when Dave Angel - EcoWarrior isn't wearing it!

I'm just wondering what's made me pull the face I'm pulling, stood on the right of this pic.

The answer is yes.

Actually, the answer is no. Hardly ever, anyway. Since I had my hair sorted out (mostly removed) the hats are too big. What I really want is a proper small trilby with the brim turned up at the back. I\'ve got one which I\'ve has since I was a kid but its too scruffy. Like the Italian kids used to wear in New York. Anyone know where I can get a new one? Hats are an arm and a leg these day. £100 for a proper one from Jermyn Street or Harrods and £30 from a novelty shop.

Lock's stall at the Game Fair usually has reduced price trilbies. But you do have to go to the Game Fair - which might not be your cup of tea!

HJ, try

www.hatsandthat.com/shopping/shopdisplayproducts.a...s

38 quid including 5 day delivery, and from a hat specialist, too.

Thanks for that Vin. Have ordered a Chester Trilby which I think is the sort of hat I wanted all along, and for a mere £38. Seems Chester crowns go up at the front whereas on other trilbys they go down at the front.

I hope you've ordered it in blue - then you'll look exactly like Junior Soprano in the flashback scenes to New York in the 1950's. (If you watch the Sopranos, you'll know exactly what I mean, if not, insert any gangster movie set in the 1950's).

Look forward to the new picture.

OK so I was wrong.

However, my local corner shop are doing lovely plastic England and Great Britain hats at the moment, for some reason on special offer.

I can put in some orders for you if you like, HJ ;)

What a great website 'hats and that' is. I've always wanted what i thought was called an Astrakhan (no jokes about Vauxhalls in Bradford please), but never found one - now I can have a Cossack hat - great; thanks lads. Pity it's summer.........

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?

You\'re right, Vin. I should have gone for blue.

I remember going along to one of HJ's motorshow sessions with my gf. When he stepped up to the mic in trademark jeans and hat, gf commented "he looks just like a cowboy". ;-)

Oh well, problem solved, John appears in the magazine called Used Car Buyer. He does the Q&A page, where people write in to have their miscellaneous motoring problems solved. Of course, he's wearing obligatory hat and tinted specs!

I think that you will find that the picture is of an android, like Commander Data in Star Trek, and if you lift the hat the underneath will look like Data's positonic brain, a mass of circuit boards and flashing lights. The real HJ is somewhere else pushing buttons on the remote control.
Honest John's hat - Vin {P}
HJ, I noticed you said the new titfer arrived this morning. If it did, I'm impressed by that site I found - you only ordered it on Thursday!

When will we see a photo?

C'mon HJ, don't be shy...

Is this you in the new hat?

It's all a CIA / FBI cover-up. His real name is Lying Tony ;)

Hmm. That brings up a new thought. I picked the name Tony at random, why does it seem to fit so well with 'lying'?
