Renault has also come up with a pretty good dedicated website for the Modus at www.modus.renault.co.uk

And also a spoof newspaper called the "Daily Splat" which I'm ashamed to admit I read bits of. Those Renault marketing bods must have some beefy budget to play with.

mm not bad, great idea, surprised not done before (or has it?)

Is there any other websites with old and current car advertisments on them?

Been trying to find old Ford ad's but to no avail. Anybody got any links?

Those Renault marketing bods must also have a screw loose if they think the current ad involving cars being re-arranged in an office car park is going to attract buyers! That ad just makes me change channels instantly, I don't even know what model it relates to! They'd be better off spending the money on improving quality and reliability then perhaps a few more people would consider buying their product.

The reason we can\'t understand it is that it\'s based on some board game very popular in France but nowhere else.

Interesting HJ - Although I can't see it rivalling the likes of Trivial Pursuit it might live up to that name. I know this topic comes up from time to time but I just can't accept that ads. like these sell cars.

Is Renault still state owned? If so, I wonder what the average French taxpayer makes of all this.

Its not a bad advert, obviously the woman had to win in line with usual feminist bias.

I am however really fed up with the 'men are idiots' adds car or otherwise.

I love that Modus advert, thought it was really clever.

They're contradicting themselves though - they promote it as a car for young, fun people... yet there's no 3 door option.

Family car? No thanks!

There are some old VW ads here: www.aircooledads.com

Scroll down on the left menu to "American" and pick "Beetle" and you can see the great Doyle-Dane- Bernbach advertisments that changed car advertising completely.

That explains it - I thought they were playing Connect 4 until I realised there was one car too many...

Well, say what you like, but through advertising, marketing and styling Renault have managed to distance themselves and carve a slot in a crowded European car market. This has been done on a Fun, stylish and chique basis. Making the most of The French reputation for style. As a result sales in most sectors are good across Europe.

Driving a Laguna, I feel a little different, a bit more taste and style, a gallic shrug if you will, outside the Mr Mondeo man chasing Mr Passat man up the motorway crowd. Thats a Renault marketing and styling generated feeling.

Renault do top to bottom marketing that starts on the cadam screen, and ends on the TV screen.

This probably explains why they fail so badly in the executive "ordinaire" market where this marketing and styling falls flat (Its a more sobre, discrete, conventional thinking market)
