I thought that £20 Mondeo was huge news. Evidently not.

Or have Ian and Pologirl and my regular miskeyings got you thinking that £20 is a typo for £200?

I thought that was a craking buy even if it wasn't a runner. I could have broken it up and stuck it on ebay and made hundreds.

You'd never get it in the back of a Transit......

Was a runner on the key. Even sounded okay.

100 times less than I paid for an N reg in March. Mind you, my bonnet looks better.

I'm impressed. As I'm getting no interest on Mrs NDs Laguna right now I'm thiking of selling the Alfa, running the Laguna into the ground and getting something early next year.... Like a Touareg TDi Auto if I'm feeling reckless and a Saab 9-3 TDi Sport if I get all sensible.

Then again, only 10 months until the new 157 hits the roads.....

If the Laguna dies in the interim, unwanted P-exs like the Mondeo could well be my transport of choice.

We'll have to see. I keep having these crazy ideas.

What's made you come over all 4x4 loving lately? I thought you were an enthusiastic driver?

What would the auction fees be on this car for a non-trade buyer?
I would think that this would negate savings on this sort of car for the general public.

However, not many cars this price in Autotrader et al.......
Not Surprised, Then? - Honestjohn
I think the fees were waived. The trader (or scrappie) who bought it was only looking for £200 - £250 on resale after replacing the bonnet, so if he'd paid £50 commission it wouldn't be worth it.

As it costs more to have a car scrapped, the price was (hardly) surprising.

Seem to remember Clarkson and his two sidekicks going to Manchester and back from the Top Gear HQ in three bangers - Clarkson's Volvo was supposed to have only cost £1.

Not now. See the scrap thread. A scrappie would have given at least £30 for the car and since I think the bloke who bought it was in that line of work it was worth at least £100 to him as scrap, never mind as a resale/

For a trade buyer the fee would have been a tenner. For non-trade I think it wouldn't have been much more.

How about "Bank Manager's Dosh"?

How does a Touareg TDI have anything to do with a £20 Mondeo or the price of scrap?

Would have bought that car if I was at the auction, drove it for maybe 2 weeks and then given it away!Much cheaper even than renting a car.
